For over forty years a highly trained team of medical geneticists at Newcastle University and the Royal Victoria Infirmary have offered one of the UK’s leading paternity testing services. NorthGene Ltd, an independent company, was created in 1995 by Professor Sir John Burn to promote this service. Professor Sir John Burn is an internationally renowned academic in the field of Human Genetics.
Professor Sir John Burn MD FRCPCH FRCOG FMedSci is an Honorary Consultant Clinical Geneticist for the Newcastle Hospitals NHS Trust; Medical Director of the Institute of Human Genetics; an Executive Director of the Life Knowledge Park; Honorary Director of Cancer Research (UK) Clinical Cancer Genetics Network; a former Public Orator at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and Member of the UK Human Genetics Commission.
