Siblingship Testing
What relationship does it prove?
DNA tests can be carried out to determine whether two people are full or half siblings (sisters or brothers).
Full siblings have the same mother and the same father.
Half siblings only share one biological parent.
This test is not offered as part of our peace of mind service.
Who needs to be tested?
- Possible Siblings
Please note that there is only a 60% chance of obtaining a conclusive result in the absence of a sample from one shared parent.
- One shared parent - If a shared parent provides a sample then there is a 65% chance that the lab will be able to provide a conclusive result.
How reliable are the results?
This testing can provide a good indication of siblingship. (Please note that in the absence of a paternal or maternal DNA sample this form of testing may not yield a result).
